Although as a Catholic I still believe in evolution, evolution gives an out for atheists of how intricate living things exist. They could see all the design in biology as a result of random evolution. But physics is the study of inanimate objects. There is no survival of the fittest in inanimate objects. Inanimate objects are not living so they do not survive. So the design in the universe cannot be explained away by appealing to some mindless evolutionary process.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7816993466458431323.post-6697010997584219712014-01-06T12:01:49.990-05:002014-01-06T12:01:49.990-05:00"I can only conclude that evangelical atheist..."I can only conclude that evangelical atheists (including Richard Dawkins) learn about science from the popular media rather than from research--their own and that of others. From the comments of these evangelical atheists on Facebook and other blogs, I also conclude that they know little of the history and philosophy of science."<br /><br />EXACTLY. They are idiots. I rarely call people such names but only an idiot would repeatedly misuse science to pretend that religion and science are in eternal conflict (they are not, they are totally separate endeavors. I cannot recall a group of people that flaunts their idiocy so much. Dawkins comes to non-scientific conclusions based on a cursory examination of the evidence, They know virtually nothing of history, except what they have read in poison-pen histories such as Constantine Sword, which any thinking person instantly realizes is a sort of hate speech. Hitchens was a troubled man who spent his life leaving out details and facts because he was a polemicist, not a historian or a serious thinker. He was deeply charming however and I dearly miss him. But he just went crazy when the subject of religion came up, possibly because his mother ran away with an Anglican priest when he was 24 and they both committed suicide in an Italian hotel room. <br />The neuro science stuff is interesting but hardly conclusive,m and Lawrence Kraus seems to give a spittle flecked nutty trying to prove that religion somehow wants to contradict the big bang. I have never seen a goofier, unscientific, unserious group of people.<br />But the culture takes them seriously. This is what bothers me. There is such a profusion of untruth out there right now, a lack of basic thinking skills on the part of atheists that it is weird. They don't seem to realize they are demonizing the religious in exactly the way that "The Eternal Jew" attempted to demonize Jews. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
